Garden report

Summer is in full swing at the Garden of Giving and lots of volunteers are needed to help with the harvesting of all the vegetables. The hot and rainy summer is producing a huge crop of good food for the Garden of Giving.

Volunteers are needed but one need not make an appointment, rather just show up, between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Church youth groups, Boy or Girl Scouts, can have an opportunity to see how food is grown and help.

There is currently an opening for two board members to help with organizing the running of The garden, and there is a need for a retired senior, or anyone with administrative skills, who can give about five hours a week to help with computer work, writing thank-you letters, and other office duties.

The garden extends congratulations go out to Izzy and Jackie for the completion of their Gold Awards Program, working with plants and medicinal herbs.

The garden, located at 2556 Rising Hill Drive, off Route 715, in McMichaels, is a recipient of one of the Lehigh Valley Health Network grants to Monroe County Community nonprofits.

Office space has been provided through the kindness of At Your Service Realty, in the ReMax building on Route 115 in Effort.

To reach the garden, call 570-402-1282 or email Garden of Giving1@gmail.com. Visit the Garden’s Facebook page, or the website www.theGardenOfGiving.org.
