Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then the traditional service at 11 a.m. Four options of worship: In the sanctuary, in Leah’s Room (mask required), in the parking lot (FM 104.3) or Faith Alive Facebook Live.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise.

July 26 at 7 p.m. is staff parish meeting.

Micah’s Backpack - the church helps to feed needy students in the Palmerton Area School District. We are in need of donations of gelatin with fruit (individual cups that are nonrefrigerated), microwave popcorn, and ramen noodle packs (only Maruchan brand) or money to stock the shelves. Please make sure the food has an expiration date later than December 2021.

Palmerton Area Library

An in-person event will be held at the Palmerton Area Library will be held July 28 at 4 p.m. titled “Teen Make and Take” discbound journals for teens ages 13 to 18.

Make sure to check out the Facebook page for information on special reading activities, library scavenger hunts, online trivia and escape rooms.

Park concert

This week’s Sunday in the Park Concert will be by Steel Creek from 7-8:30 p.m. in the borough park bandstand. The concert is sponsored Pencor Services Inc. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the concert. The Bandstand Committee reserves the right to cancel a concert in case of inclement weather.

On Aug. 1, the concert will be by the Marine Band of Allentown.

Living Hope Lighthouse Church

Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton will hold Sunday worship service at 10 a.m. Operation Bookbag school supply collection begins July 18 and goes through Aug. 15. You can help children in need for this upcoming school year. A table is set up for you to put your donations.

Jerusalem Lutheran Church Picnic

The Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville, annual Sunday School Picnic will be held Aug. 7. The picnic will start at noon. Services with guest speaker Roger Borger will be at 2 p.m. Afternoon activities include a Kiddie cake walk and fish pond at 3 p.m. Evening activities include a cake walk for all ages at 6:30 p.m. followed by a raffle drawing. Live music by Last One Standing will begin at 4 p.m. Come enjoy great food and fellowship.

Palmerton Food Pantry

The CACPAC sponsored Palmerton Food Pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, this Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The pantry is for residents of the Palmerton Area School District only and you will need to show proof of residency and answer questions regarding your income.

This is a drive-thru event, so please remain in your vehicle and follow instructions given by volunteers. In you are unable to attend, someone may pick up for you.

The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items, and paper and personal care items. Donations may be dropped off at 459 Lafayette Ave., or 1002 Third St., Palmerton. Boxes are on the front porches for donations. Local churches also collect on a regular basis.

PMPA pool

This Sunday is Old Timer’s Day at the Palmerton pool. DJ Josh will be playing “oldies.” They will have a Lucky Penny find for adults and grilled hot dogs and cups of birch beer, each for 50 cents. Culinary Comet Food Truck will also be selling food. Lastly, it’s not a special event day without a Duck Race.

Carbon Model Railroad

The Carbon Model Railroad Society, 529 Ore St., Bowmanstown is holding its Christmas in July Open House. It will be open Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m.

The HO scale displays are in various stages of completion and are excellent learning tools. The clubs N scale display will also be in operation on the second floor along with new and pre-owned trains and accessories for sale. The Club’s Traveling caboose with its HO Scale operating display can be visited in their backyard.

Admission is free; donations are welcome. Masks are optional. The building is air-conditioned.

Palmerton Concourse Club

The Palmerton Concourse Club is having a fundraiser by selling $5 shopping passes for Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends day on Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. This is an in-store only event. The shopping pass offers savings of 10%, 15% or 25% off purchases. It’s a great way to help a local organization, save some money for yourself, and maybe do some early holiday shopping. Tickets are on sale now and to purchase a ticket please call Joan Turko at 610-826-2716. Thanks in advance for your support.

JUCC Picnic

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold its annual Community Picnic in the church grove on Aug. 14 from noon to 9 p.m. At noon the food stands will be open and ready for lunch. At 1 p.m. will be free kids games and a free kiddie cake walk. Afternoon activities also include a cornhole tournament and music by the Main Street Cruisers at 3 and 5 p.m. Raffle tickets will also be on sale. At 6:30 p.m. will be Trachsville’s legendary cake walk for all ages. The Mainstreet Cruisers will play again at 7:30 p.m. The raffle drawing will be at 9 p.m.

Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a fun-filled day. The rain date will be Aug. 15.

Giant yard sale

Blue Mountain Community Church, 25 Oak St., Palmerton will hold its annual giant yard sale on Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Something for everyone. The food court will be available throughout the day.
