Local roundup: Results from July 21

Berlinsville bounced back from Tuesday’s loss against Hellertown with a victory in Blue Mountain League play on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Tamaqua Blue posted impressive offensive numbers in a win in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament.

BLUE MTN. LEAGUE

Limeport-Berlinsville

The Berlinsville Braves erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take command en route to a 7-1 win over the Limeport Dodgers in Blue Mountain League action.

Owen Fischl was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for the Braves (6-16-1), who led 1-0 after the first inning. Northwestern graduate Jake Augustus had a hit, a run scored and a stolen base. JD Greeley (stolen base) and Conor Howland (RBI, run scored) also had hits in the win.

On the mound, Jake Hebert allowed just three hits and two walks over six innings pitched, striking out two, to earn the win.

Pete DuBois was 2-2 with a double, a walk and a run scored for the Dodgers (8-17), who scored a run in the top of the fifth inning.

Tamaqua-Towamensing

Tamaqua Blue outlasted Towamensing 21-15 in the Panther Valley 8-10-year-old Little League Tournament.

Gavin Shannon was 4-for-5 with a triple, four RBIs and four runs scored for Tamaqua, which outscored Towamensing 15-5 over the final three innings. Jaedon Vidzicki had a double among his three hits, three RBIs and scored four times, while Mason Evans (double, three runs scored) and Chayse Barron (two runs scored, RBI) both had two hits. Troy Hartman also doubled with an RBI and two runs scored.

Weatherly/TC-Anthracite

Chase Grier of Weathery/Tri County scored three runs and played superbly behind the plate to lead his team to a 13-5 victory over Anthracite in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament.

Tri-County/Weatherly scored seven runs in the final inning to break open a close game. Mitch Knox pitched well in relief for the win.

For Anthracite, Chase McArdle scored two runs and Gabe Perilli, Michael Mazzie, and Bradley Bartlett each scored once.
