July 20, 1972 - John McGuire connects for a home run and Carig Zurn finishes with two hits and two runs scored to help lead Jim Thorpe to an 8-2 victory over Summit Hill in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament. McGuire finishes the contest with three runs. Thorpe, who breaks a 2-2 tie with five runs in the home second, also receives a double and run from Joe Snisky, while Joe Krisak adds a two-bagger. Lynn Mann, who chips in with a hit and a run, allows just four hits to gain the pitching win. The Hillers’ only runs come on homers by Tom Evans and Rich Coury.
