A free concert by The Cressona band will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Ludlow Park.

The longtime director of the band, John F. Potlunas of Pottsville, passed away on July 13 and will be remembered. He was a band director for Nativity BVM High School, Williams Valley School District and retired from Tamaqua Area High School. He was the principal director of the Cressona Band for 42 years.

Those attending the concert in Ludlow Park are encouraged to bring their own chairs.

The concert is sponsored by the Summit Hill Historical Society, Summit Hill Heritage Centers, Hiles Brothers Fuel, Ron and Martha Tirpak and Carbon Engineering.
