Schuylkill hires new public works director

Schuylkill County has a new director of public works.

Kevin Mahall of Pottsville, was hired for the role effective July 19. His rate of pay is $49,923 a year. He is the husband of county engineer Lisa Mahall.

Commissioners’ Chairman Barron “Boots” Hetherington said four candidates were interviewed for the job.

Mahall replaces Paul Fetterolf, whose last day is June 30. He had been with the county since May 2012, having been the building superintendent, interim public works director and public works director.

In other business, a $491,675.95 CDBG project was awarded to Lehigh Asphalt Paving & Construction Co. for the Sherman Street culvert relocation in McAdoo.

Commissioners also voted to approve a change order with Chilewski Enterprises LLC for $31,610 to add the installation of a pavilion, roofing and concrete slab at the Girard Park in Shenandoah.
