Route 209 is closed in Towamensing Township due to a crash with injuries. The crash occurred around 7 p.m. just north of the intersection with Evergreen Road.

One person was trapped in the wreckage and was extricated by firefighters of the Towamensing Fire Company. The driver was traveling north and apparently lost control, crossing the roadway and snapping off a utility pole.

The victim was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being transported to an area trauma center. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
