Nesquehoning VFW to celebrate 75 years

Nesquehoning VFW members will celebrate the post’s 75th anniversary, as well as a special designation, during a ceremony on July 22.

VFW Post 8008, which opened on July 22, 1946, has been newly renovated during the pandemic and is now a smoke-free establishment.

The celebration will take place beginning at 5 p.m. at the post home at 300 E. Center St. It will also include the announcement of the post receiving All American status for the first time. All American status is meant to recognize outstanding VFW posts and is based on participation in VFW programs as well as membership gains by posts, districts and departments.

Former Congressman Lou Barletta, as well as state Rep. Doyle Heffley are expected to attend the event.
