Several injured in West Penn crash

Several people were seriously injured Monday afternoon when they were involved in a crash in West Penn Township. The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Pine Hill and Winter Mountain roads. Those involved report the white Honda was traveling south on Winter Mountain Road and failed to stop at the stop sign before pulling out into the path of a west bound utility truck on Pone Hill Road. The truck drove the Honda up an embankment against a utility pole carrying high power lines. The victims were treated at the scene by members of the Penn Mahoning and Tamaqua ambulances before being flown to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center. Responding to extricate the victims were the West Penn and Mahoning Valley fire companies. West Penn police are investigating the incident. COPYRIGHT LARRY NEFF/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
