Pavilion to be dedicated at Pool Pals event

A pavilion will be dedicated, and a benefit to establish a memorial fund in honor of a dedicated volunteer, as part of a community event in Lehighton.

The Lehighton Area Pool Pals will host a community event from 7-10 p.m. July 24 at the Lehighton Community Pool. The rain date is 7-10 p.m. July 25.

Mark Hoffman, president of Lehighton Area Pool Pals, said the event will feature the dedication of the new 30-by-30-foot pavilion being constructed at the west end of the pool.

“The new pavilion, that will be the largest of the three, was made possible based on the many generous donations received from individuals, churches, corporations and businesses within our community,” Hoffman said. “The sign that will hang on Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church pavilion will share that this pavilion is for the ‘community.’?”

Hoffman said all donations of $250 or more toward the pavilion will be recognized on a plaque that will be fabricated and installed on the new pavilion over the winter.

Donations for the pavilion and tables for the pavilion will continue to be accepted through the end of the 2021 swimming season, he said.

Family Fun Night

Hoffman said immediately following the pavilion dedication will be the always popular Family Fun Night.

However, he noted the big difference with this year’s event is that all money raised will go to support the newly created Linda Schoenberger Memorial Swim Fund.

Hoffman said Schoenberger was not only a lifetime member of the Lehighton Area Pool Pals, but was also involved with many other activities and organizations within our local communities.

“Linda was a very kindhearted and giving person in so many ways,” he said. “In memory of Linda, the Pool Pals wanted to do something to honor Linda and felt there would be no better way than to establish a memorial fund that would help others.

“The Linda Schoenberger Memorial Swim Fund will allow others within our communities who may be less fortunate to obtain a season pass to allow them to enjoy the many benefits of our community pool.”

DJ Stevie Ray will be on hand, and there will also be a multitude of games for everyone to enjoy, including the crowd favorite water balloon toss, which will once again be open to all ages.

Food, drinks and dessert will be included with the admission price of $10 for anyone 13 and older, and $5 for those 12 and under.

Hoffman said 100% of all money collected will go to support the Linda Schoenberger Memorial Swim Fund.

“There will also be a raffle held to support the Linda Schoenberger Memorial Swim Fund, with one of the prizes being a rental of the brand-new pavilion, along with many other prizes made possible by the generosity of our business community,” he said.
