Brutto steps down as Marian girls basketball coach

Paul Brutto announced on Tuesday that he is retiring from his post as the head girls’ basketball coach at Marian High School.

Brutto has been the Fillies’ head coach for the last 31 years, accumulating 610 wins during his career. During his tenure, the Fillies captured numerous Schuylkill League and District 11 championships. A perennial fixture in the PIAA state playoffs, Brutto’s teams played in the state championship game three times. His coaching career was highlighted by a PIAA Class A state title in 2008.

Brutto’s is a member of the Marian Catholic High School Hall of Fame after being inducted in 2008 following the state championship victory.

Brutto will continue in his role as a social studies and history teacher at the school.

A release from Marian High School on the retirement said:

“The Marian Catholic administration sincerely thanks coach Paul Brutto for his service and success that he’s brought to the Marian Catholic girls basketball program over the last 31 years.”

Marian will begin its search for a new girls basketball coach immediately and will be accepting applications through July 30, 2021.
