LV Connie Mack playoffs announced

Franklin Township has earned a bye into the quarterfinals of the Lehigh Valley Connie Mack playoffs.

Opening round action begins tonight, with three area teams in action.

Palmerton travels to Nazareth, while Northern Valley visits Bangor. Both games begin at 5:30 p.m.

Jim Thorpe will head to Wilson for a contest at 6:30 p.m.

Franklin will host the winner of the Northern Valley-Bangor game on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

The semifinals are scheduled for Friday, with the finals set for Sunday.

Palmerton-Hellertown

Hellertown turned back Palmerton 5-4 in Friday’s regular season finale.

Palmerton plated two runs in the top of the sixth inning, and one in the seventh to pull within one as it outhit Hellertown 10-5 in the contest.

Kaleb Eitner was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for Palmerton. Daniel Lucykanish (run scored), Nate Steinmetz and Jacob Grammes each had a hit and an RBI for Palmerton, while Owen Serfass and Dalton Rumfield both had a hit and a run scored.
