Ebenezer E.C. Church holds auction to fund renovations

It was a day of great bargains as Ebenezer E.C. Church on Center Avenue in Jim Thorpe held a fundraising auction to help to pay for the recent renovations of the church’s roof and bell tower.

Dean R. Arner Auctioneer of Andreas donated his services, and friends and parishioners donated the items that were sold at auction.

Furniture, sports memorabilia, household items, glassware and many more items were auctioned to the highest bidder.

Ebenezer church underwent the $350,000 renovations in 2020. The church’s original slate roof from 1895 when the church was built needed repairs, and the bell and tower were also renovated.

Some of the slate from the roof was auctioned off as well.

Members of the church will continue to raise funds to pay off the repairs. They will have their usual table on the Saturdays in October when the Fall Foliage Festival returns to Jim Thorpe after being canceled last year due to COVID-19.

It was announced that the borough will hold the festival again this year.
