Jim Thorpe is proposing an ordinance to limit areas where a medical marijuana dispensary can be operated.

Council is looking for input on the ordinance.

It was suggested adding “parks” to the ordinance, to restrict the establishment of marijuana dispensaries within 1,000 feet of borough parks, but it was decided that saying all parks were included might be too restrictive.

“For example, if you add the park by the train station, you lose the entire business district,” Vice President Michael Yeastedt said.

Council will continue to work on the wording of that ordinance.
