The number one team from the Lehigh Fire Company No. 1, Lehighton, captured all of the laurels last night in the final rounds of the annual Mahoning Valley Fire Company water battle rodeo.

The winning team took two straight battles against the Diligent Fire Company, Jim Thorpe, as it unseated defending champion East Penn.

The champion team defeated Schuylkill Haven, Lehigh Company’s number two team, Andreas, Franklin Township’s number two team and Engine Company No. 2, Lehighton, to advance to the championship round against the Dillies.

The three-day event drew more than 1,500 people on the grounds of the Mahoning fire company.
