The board on a 4-0 vote at last week’s special meeting accepted the LVH Letter of Credit (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation improvements) in the amount of $2,687,947.

Also on the same measure, the board agreed to close the LVH escrow account (PennDOT improvements) and release funds made payable to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

The new hospital, located cattycorner to the Walmart Superstore on Blakeslee Boulevard, will cover over 100,000 square feet and feature 18 private inpatient beds, a 12-bay emergency department, two operating rooms, two procedure rooms and four observation rooms with plans to expand in the future.

It is expected to open by the spring of 2022.

Construction crews placed the final beam atop Lehigh Valley Health Network’s new hospital in April.

LVHN broke ground for the hospital in December and marked the event with a virtual ceremony.

Supervisor Robert Slaw was absent.
