State police at Stroudsburg reported on a Monroe County man who barricaded himself in his home in a standoff with troopers.

Troopers said the incident began at 6 a.m. on June 30 at a residence along Golf Course Road in Hamilton Township. Troopers responded to a report of a disturbance and were told a 30-year-old man was having a mental health episode and barricaded himself in his home. The state police special response team was activated along with an aviation unit. The man was taken into custody without further incident and committed to a mental health facility at an area hospital.
