A Bowmanstown eatery has been granted permission to sell alcohol on its premises.
Borough council unanimously agreed on Tuesday to adopt an ordinance for the transfer of a liquor license to 3 Brothers Pizza, 709 Lincoln Ave., Bowmanstown.
Council approved the transfer of Eating Place Liquor License that is presently issued to Pizza Como USA Uno Inc. at the Carbon Plaza Mall in Mahoning Township, to 3 Brothers Pizza.
Before council’s approval, a public hearing for the transfer of the liquor license was held, at which time owner Candis Aldana explained why her business sought the measure.
Aldana said she took over the business in November 2018, and that she sought a beer license, as there would be no hard liquor.
“I had a lot of customers asking for it; also tourists, so when we saw the opportunity, we thought it would be a good idea,” Aldana said. “I’m just trying to fill my customers’ request, and now that we have the opportunity, we want to see if we can do it.”
Aldana said customers will be able to drink inside the premises.
Council President William Ravert asked Aldana how she planned to control the sale of beer.
Aldana said she would likely limit it to one six-pack per person.
Ravert then asked what’s to prevent customers from sitting down and having a piece of pizza with a six-pack.
Aldana said she would be sure to monitor how much beer is being consumed.
