Lehighton Area School District’s board of directors approved the following items:

• A $1,002.58 transfer from the general fund to the food service fund as per the reimbursements from the state for April 2021.

• A donation of $12,430.74 from Giant Food Stores to be used for the district’s Backpack Buddy Program.

• A donation of $125 from Griff’s Ale Haus & Grille, to be used for the Title I Reading Program at the Elementary Center.

• The 2021-2022 MTSS EELO Series Enhancing Early Literacy Outcomes within Tiered Systems (Grades K-2) Grant for the 2021-2022 school year. The total grant award is $10,000.

• Schedule A for the 2021-22 school year with a one-year pricing extension to the existing George’s Transportation contract.

• The Pennsylvania School Board Association policy maintenance program participation agreement.

• The payment of bills totaling $3,764,146.02.

• The hiring of Justin Ungaro, high school Spanish teacher, at an annual salary of $43,000 for the 2021-22 school year; Lydia DeLong, music teacher, at an annual salary of $43,000 for the 2021-22 school year; Zoe David, elementary special education teacher, at an annual salary of $43,000 for the 2021-22 school year; Tyler Cann, elementary special education teacher at an annual salary of $44,000 for the 2021-22 school year; Donna Zacharias, Title I reading specialist, at an annual salary of $45,850 for the 2021-22 school year; Samantha Elias, middle school guidance counselor, at an annual salary of $43,850 for the 2021-22 school year; Allane Kistler, part-time cleaner, at $9.82 per hour for the 2021- 22 school year.

• Adding Erika Katona to the substitute paraprofessional list.

• The first reading of policies dealing with students convicted or adjudicated of sexual assault, and electronic signatures/records.

• The second reading of policies dealing with discipline of students with disabilities, confidentiality of special education student information, federal fiscal compliance, travel reimbursement, cash management, allowability of costs, procurement for federal grants, administration of federal funds, and grant subrecipient monitoring procedures.

• A waiver of expulsion hearing agreement with student #56831.

• The appointment of Rita Spinelli as treasurer for 2021-22.
