State police deal with alcohol incidents

State police at Lehighton report on the following incidents:

• A Northampton County man is facing a public drunkenness charge following an incident that occurred on June 23 at 4:21 a.m.

Troopers were dispatched to the area of 1910 Kunkletown Road in Ross Township, Monroe County, for a report of a man walking along the road screaming for help. Troopers located Zachary Coleman, 39, of Northampton. Police said he was highly intoxicated and had walked for hours from Northampton County, was lost and screaming for help because he didn’t know where he was at.

• A Northampton County driver is facing charges following a one-vehicle crash reported at 6:30 a.m. on June 23 along Lower Smith Gap Road in Eldred Township, Monroe County.

Police said Chris Stevens, 47, of Pen Argyl, was driving a 2005 Toyota Tundra westbound when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went off the road and struck a ditch and a tree before coming to rest at the base of the tree.

Stevens left the scene before the arrival of troopers. During the investigation to determine the driver’s identity, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.

Charges are pending.
