Tamaqua police deal with fireworks, other incidents
Tamaqua police reported on the following incidents:
• Summer Starr Bell, 39, of Kutztown, is facing a felony 3 count of firearm ownership-providing false information and a misdemeanor 3 count of unsworn falsification to authorities.
Police said state police notified them that Bell attempted to purchase a gun on June 28 at 9:48 a.m. at Ed’s Sports Shop on West Broad Street. Bell is prohibited from purchasing a firearm due to prior criminal convictions. Convictions include hindering apprehension, simple assault and retail theft.
In filling out forms for the purchase Bell lied and said that she was never convicted of any crime. Charges were filed.
• Kristina Marie St. Peter, 23, of Hunter Street, Tamaqua, is facing a charge of criminal mischief - damage to property.
On June 25 at 11 p.m. a woman came to the police station to report that St. Peter damaged her mother’s vehicle. The woman said the defendant contacted her on June 24 at 4:35 p.m. and asked to met her along South Lehigh Street. St. Peter began to argument with her. The woman got in her mother’s vehicle and as she pulled away St. Peter was hanging on the roof rack then punched the driver door causing damage.
Damages were estimated at $646. Charges were filed.
• Joan Faust, 61, of Reilly Avenue, Tamaqua, was cited for a fireworks violation at 10:20 p.m. on June 18 Officers on patrol heard a firework go off in the area Reilly Avenue. A smoking mortar tube was at the scene. He asked two women there who set off the firework and Faust admitted to it.
• Cory Amann, 34, of Arlington Street, Tamaqua, has been cited for fireworks violation and disorderly conduct.
On June 26 at 4:10 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Arlington Street for a report of fireworks being set off. On scene officers did not observe anything and left. At 5:09 p.m. they were dispatched back to the same area where a resident of Arlington Street complained that Amann was setting off fireworks countless times.
While officers were speaking with the resident Amann set off a fireworks in the street. Police approached him and he told them to “get off my property you have no right to be here.” He then slammed the garage door on the officers and refused to answer when they attempted to make contact with him.
Charges were filed.
