Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then the traditional service at 11 a.m. Four options of worship: In the sanctuary, in Leah’s Room (mask required), in the parking lot (FM 104.3) or Faith Alive Facebook Live.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise.

July 4 is Holy Communion Sunday

July 6 at 2 p.m. is prayer shawl ministry - The knitters are making lap robes for veterans. They are accepting donations of yarn, especially red and navy blue for this project.

July 26 at 7 p.m. is staff parish meeting.

Micah’s Backpack - the church helps to feed needy students in the Palmerton Area School District. We are in need of donations of gelatin with fruit (individual cups that are nonrefrigerated), microwave popcorn, and ramen noodle packs (only Maruchan brand) or money to stock the shelves. Please make sure the food has an expiration date later than December 2021.

ABC Food Pantry is available for those in need. Contact the church office for assistance. If you would like to donate canned goods or nonperishables to help out the needy in our area, please drop them off at the church.

July Mission of the Month is Peaceful Knights. It’s a not-for-profit corporation formed to help those in need to a temporary, safe shelter and access to local organizations that provide assistance.

Palmerton Area Library

Summer reading programs start the week of July 5 at the Palmerton Area Library.

Make sure to check out the Facebook page for information on special reading activities, library scavenger hunts, online trivia and escape rooms.

An online event, animal word play trivia, will be held July 6 at 7 p.m. This is open to all ages.

An in-person event, Dog Tails storytime with a take home craft, will be held in the library on July 7 at 10:30 a.m. for kids ages 0-6.

Park concert

The Palmerton Band will hold a concert in the Palmerton Borough Park on July 4 from 7-8:38 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the concert. The Bandstand Committee reserves the right to cancel a concert in case of inclement weather.

On July 11, the concert will be by the Little Brass Band of the Lehigh Valley.

Breakfast

Breakfast will be held at the Parryville Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 on July 4 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Dine in or takeout is available.

They have large and small platters. Platter choices include: pancakes, French toast, eggs any style, SOS, Fire House Mess, western omelet, and ham and cheese omelet. Choice of meats are ham, sausage, scrapple or bacon. Includes home fries, juice or coffee.

Palmerton council

A regular meeting of the Palmerton Borough Council will be held July 8 at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall Council Chambers, 443 Delaware Ave.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will hold worship service at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday. Communion will be served. Please call the church office at 610-826-2524 if you are planning to attend. If you are unable to attend in person, you may join on Zoom.

Bible study is held on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.

The worship and music committee will meet at 4:30 p.m. July 7.

PMPA Pool

The Palmerton pool will host Veterans Appreciation Weekend July 3 and 4. Call the pool at 610-826-5357 for information on activities.
