Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, Third and Iron streets, Lehighton, is scheduled for its steeple to be removed this Thursday, beginning at 8 a.m. The project is expected to take two to three hours to complete. Campbellsville Industries, Campbellsville, Kentucky, is contracted to remove, repair and replace. This is the same company that built and placed the original steeple in 1972 to coincide with the “new” church construction. In addition, the roof will be replaced.

July 4 Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins 9:30 a.m. The bread wafer and juice are presealed as a safe way to observe the sacrament. Reservations are not required. A face mask covering the nose and mouth is no longer required for those fully vaccinated and past the 10-day waiting period. The church is air-conditioned. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides.

Livestream audio is available at tlclehighton.com. Video with audio rebroadcasts available on www.facebook.com/TrinityLehighton later on Sunday mornings. Church phone: 610-377-4303.

The Trinity Thrift Store will be open for business without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours, but are limited to five bags or boxes. Face masks must still be worn for the safety of all. All sales receipts support the food pantry. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/trinitythriftstore.

The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

Looking ahead is Community Vacation Bible School. The schedule: Tuesday Aug. 3-5, 6:30-8:30 p.m., for students ages 3 through sixth grade. The theme is “Rocky Railway: Jesus’ Power Pulls Us Through.” Registration is free; forms are available in the narthex, church office or on the church website.
