LDI to present Lehighton fireworks on July 4
Bursts of colors will once again light up the night sky in Lehighton on Independence Day.
The Lehighton Downtown Initiative will present the Lehighton Fireworks at 10 p.m. Sunday.
They will be launched from the rear parking lot of the Lehighton Outdoor Center, according to Ryan Saunders, president of the LDI.
Saunders noted there will be food vendors, along with additional entertainment at the Insurrection Distillery nearby.
“The fireworks will be visible from just about anywhere in town,” Saunders said.
Saunders said the event is sponsored by the Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank, St. Luke’s University, and Lehigh Valley Health Network.
“The LDI is very proud of our partners as they continue to support us in providing great events for Lehighton,” he said.
Saunders heaped praise on the LDI for its commitment to the borough.
“The LDI has been able to bring great events to Lehighton and generate an uplifting community spirit throughout,” he said.
Saunders noted that upcoming events include Christmas in July on July 24 in Lehighton’s Lower Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., along with Rocktoberfest Oct. 16-17 (noon to 10 p.m. Oct. 16, noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 17) in both the Upper and Lower parks. The Lehighton Fire Department will host its annual Chinese Auction basket raffle at Rocktoberfest.
“We are really looking forward to Rocktoberfest this year as we unveil a few new partnerships and some more very exciting things for our community,” he said. “More details on Rocktoberfest will follow as we get closer to the event.”
Saunders said the LDI would like to thank everyone who has continued to support the organization in its efforts in bringing a sense of community spirit to the town, as well as hopefully to attract those new potential businesses with their vision of downtown Lehighton.
“We would especially like to thank the Lehighton Borough for their support and guidance along the way,” he said. “Without their support, we would not be able to continue our quest to revitalize our downtown and bring community events throughout our town.
“I would personally like to thank all of the members/volunteers of LDI. We have been able to accomplish huge things for such a small group.
“And it is through the dedication of everyone involved who see our vision and help us to make them a reality. We are truly blessed with the greatest group of volunteers.”
