Two arrested for robbery, assault

Two people were arrested last week for robbery and other counts following an incident in Nesquehoning.

State police at Lehighton said at 5:58 a.m. Wednesday troopers were dispatched to 128 W. Coal St., in the borough for a report of an assault

A further investigation revealed that during the early morning hours a 47-year-old borough man was communicating with Samantha Williams, 21, of Jim Thorpe. Williams agreed to come to the man’s house and perform a sexual act for $400. Williams arrived at the residence along with her boyfriend, Luke Cann, 21, of Hazleton.

The two entered the home and took the victim’s handgun. The victim was held at gunpoint while money was demanded. The victim was assaulted and suffered head injuries. Williams and Cann fled the scene with the victim’s Apple iPhone.

Williams and Cann were later taken into custody and charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, criminal trespass and simple assault. They were arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford. Kosciolek set bail for Williams at $100,000 and Cann at $150,000. Records indicate the two are currently inmates in the county prison.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 7 at 3:30 p.m. before Kosciolek.
