Local Roundup: Results from June 23

The Carbon Monarchs earned a narrow win on Wednesday, while Northern Valley and Lansford both gained 10-run rule victories.

Carbon-Salisbury

The pitching of Randy Bongiorno and Blake Eitner helped the Carbon Monarchs register a 3-2 Lehigh Valley Legion victory over Salisbury.

Bongiorno allowed two runs over the first five innings, while Eitner tossed two scoreless frames to preserve the win.

Brandon Pierce had two hits and scored a run for the Monarchs, with Drew Wimmer delivering a key two-run single in the second inning to open the game’s scoring.

Eitner and Garrett Lienhard each walked and scored a run for the winners.

Birches-Kemp

Connor Litts pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out eight to lead Kemp to a 2-0 Northampton County Legion win over the Birches.

Ben Mostosky and Jack Smale combined to allow only five Kemp hits, but the host team pushed across single runs in the second and third innings to gain the victory.

The Birches received hits from Smale, Nate Mostosky and Andrew Meitzler.

Northern Valley-Salisbury

Eleven different Northern Valley players had hits during its 17-2 Lehigh Valley Connie Mack rout of Salisbury.

Wesley George collected three hits, two of them doubles, three runs and two RBIs in the lopsided win. Shaun O’Donnell added two singles, a triple, a pair of runs and two RBIs, with Bobby Croneberger contributed three hits, two runs and two RBIs.

The Chargers also received a pair of hits from both Jackson VanNorman and Bailey Smith, while Erik Mather and Andrew Diehl each chipped in with a hit and two RBIs.

Palmerton-Northampton

Northampton rallied for eight runs in the seventh to force extra innings and then tallied in the eighth to gain a 10-9 Lehigh Valley Connie Mack walk-off win over Palmerton.

Motsko delivered a two-run double during the seventh-inning uprising, while Hughes and Maynard added RBI singles. Merced knocked in the game-winner with a single in the eighth.

For the Bombers, Nate Steinmetz and Kaleb Eitner both had three hits and knocked in two runs. Steinmetz, who had two doubles, scored a pair of runs while Eitner crossed home once. Daniel Lucykanish also contributed two hits, two runs and an RBI, while Chase Reph chipped in with a hit and two runs.

SCHUYLKILL TEENER LEAGUE

Lansford-Schuylkill Haven

Trey McAndrew had a big day at the plate to help Lansford earn a 16-5 Schuylkill Teener League victory over Schuylkill Haven.

McAndrew collected four hits, scored four runs and knocked in three to lead an offense that banged out 16 hits.

Hayden Goida contributed three hits, one a double, and scored three times while winning pitcher Tyler Black added a single, double and three runs.

Lansford, now 4-4, also received a pair of hits, two runs and three RBIs from Aiden Rohrbach with Drew Kokinda chipping in with two hits.

For Haven, Aiden Clouser had a triple and scored a run.

Hegins-Valley Athletic

Lucas Scheib had four hits to help power Hegins to a 13-5 Schuylkill Teener League victory over Valley Athletic.

Braxton Schwartz also finished with three hits and two runs for the winners, who scored four runs in three different innings.

For Valley Athletic, Chase Andrews had a pair of hits and a run scored, while Lucas Milot added two hits. Valley (2-6) also received a hit and run scored from Cian McLaughlin, Tim Fritzinger, Gianni Valentine and Nate Fannock.
