PALMERTON DIDN’T NEED TAX INCREASE

Dear Editor,

I really have to shake my head in disgust with the Palmerton school board. They apparently think that none of the taxpayers had math in school.

They refinance our debt, which is a joke because they add decades to the time we had to pay it off, “for the savings” we will see per month. They invest large dollar amounts to get new windows and AC units “for the savings” we will see per month.

The kids were not in the schools most of the year but we need the maximum tax increase or we will run out of money. Certainly a competent school board would renegotiate contracts that were not really needed in a pandemic year. By the way, we will bank all your savings.

I know a lot of them were former teachers. How would they grade themselves? Most run unopposed. Maybe we should pay professionals to run the school board. It would probably cost the taxpayer significantly less and enable our retired heroes to keep their homes. This is what amateurs bring to the table.
