One of the area’s most recognizable landmarks - the Old Mauch Chunk Train Station - will be getting a bit of a face-lift and some much-needed improvements for its roof, windows and heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, thanks to a $360,000 federal Transportation Enhancement Program grant.

State Rep. Keith R. McCall on Thursday presented the symbolic check for the project to the Carbon County commissioners, pointing out the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance worked with his office to secure the funding that identifies and prioritizes projects for the state department of transportation.

“The history of this community is an undercurrent that continues to create the future here in Jim Thorpe,” McCall said.
