Carbon County commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items during their weekly meeting on Thursday.

• Approved proposals from Corporate Environments of Bethlehem for furnishings for the first and second floors of 44 Susquehanna St. The total cost for the contracts is $73,930.38.

• Approved an agreement with Boyle Construction Management of Allentown to provide professional construction management services for the courthouse elevator replacement project. Under the contract, it includes MKSD Architects at $29,500 and Snyder Hoffman Associates at $5,500.

• Approved a change order with Kobalt Construction Inc. of Tobyhanna for the phase 1B portion of the Emergency Operations and Training Center project. The contract increases $55,475 for a new contract price of $2,397,428 and now includes a location for PPL to connect to a permanent electrical services, as well as address propane system revisions for the burn tower.

• Resignation: Hunter R. Freil of Mahanoy City, corrections officer, effective June 4.

• Retirement: Gregory L. Mousseau of Jim Thorpe, solicitor, clerk of courts, effective June 10.

• Hire as recommended by department supervisor: Casey M. Hanley of Lehighton, lifeguard, effective June 28; Angelo J. Jordan of Hazleton, part-time veterans service officer, Veterans Affairs, effective July 12.

• Court appointment: Gregory J. Johnson of Saylorsburg, probation officer I, adult probation, effective June 21.

• Sheriff appointment: Michael J. Stasko Jr. of Lehighton, special deputy sheriff trainee, effective June 21.

• Change of status: Gail M. Marek of Nesquehoning, from program specialist I to fiscal assistant, Children and Youth Services, effective June 14.
