Sacred Heart news

Sacred Heart Parish, Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton will celebrate our Saturday Vigil Mass, June 19 at 5 p.m., and Sunday Liturgy at 9:30 a.m., June 20. Please Note: Seating restrictions have been lifted. Masks are only required of those who are not fully vaccinated.

“Fully vaccinated” is defined as being two weeks after receiving the final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Confessions continue to be available by appointment only. Please call Father Bill to schedule a time.

This weekend we celebrate the 12th Sunday in Ordinary time. The readings tell us in the midst of adversity, we need to trust in the saving presence of God. In the midst of distress, we turn to the Lord who even the wind and sea obey. This Sunday is also Father’s Day, and all Masses will be offered for the living and deceased members of our parish family. Requested prayer intentions will be placed on the St. Joseph’s Altar for the remainder of the month.

The second collection this weekend, Peter’s Pence, will be to support the charitable works of Pope Francis. This annual collection allows the universal church to be an instrument of charity to those most in need.

The Parish “Safety, Security and Maintenance” Committee will meet June 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the parish center. Parish ushers are asked to attend this meeting. All agenda items should be submitted to Jim Matsko, chairperson, or Father Campion, pastor.

The pastoral council will meet on June 24 at 7 p.m. in the parish center.

Agenda items should be forward to Michele Mullikin, chairperson, or Father Campion, pastor.

Any events, meetings, fundraising activities for the upcoming fiscal year, July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022, must be submitted for approval before the end of this month. Once approved they will be placed on the master calendar in the rectory. This has proven to be helpful in coordinating usage of our facilities.

Father Bill continues to ask for prayers, through the intercession of Father Walter Ciszek whose cause for canonization to Sainthood is under study, that God will bless us with a cure for COVID-19 and restore the physical, spiritual, emotional and financial health to our global family.
