Police: Teen had AK-47, drugs, $5,900

A Carbon County teen is facing charges after police found him in possession of drugs, a firearm and a large amount of cash.

State police at Fern Ridge said on June 8 at 3:56 p.m. troopers responded to the 100 block of Yellow Run Road in Penn Forest Township for a welfare check. On scene troopers spoke with Sean Strayer, 18, of Jim Thorpe.

While at the scene troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence. A consent search was the home was requested and granted.

Found in Strayer’s bedroom was about 1.5 pounds of marijuana, 12 ounces of psilocybin mushrooms, a large amount of THC edibles and THC vape cartridges as well as a AK-47 firearm with 100 rounds of ammunition and $5,901 in cash.

Troopers said charges were filed against Strayer including possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and other drug-related and firearm charges.
