Local Roundup: Results from June 17

Palmerton rolled to a Connie Mack win over Southern Lehigh on Thursday.

Palmerton scored five runs in the first inning, and cruised to a 12-2 Lehigh Valley Connie Mack League victory over Southern Lehigh.

Kaleb Eitner delivered an RBI-double during the five-run first, while Trey Sterling added a run-scoring single.

Eitner finished the contest with two hits and two runs scored. Daniel Lucykanish contributed a pair of hits, several runs and two RBIs, with Nate Steinmetz adding two hits, a pair of runs and an RBI. The winners also receive a hit and two runs from both Chase Reph and Tyler Solt.

Luke Netznik earned the mound decision, tossing four shutout innings. Netznik allows just two hits and no walks while striking out two.

Monarchs-Lower Macungie

Carbon’s Garett Lienhard and Randy Bongiorno both had four hits, but the Monarchs still dropped a 13-7 Lehigh Valley Legion decision to Lower Macungie.

After Carbon used a four-run second inning to tie the game at 5-5, Lower Mac tallied six unanswered runs to take a commanding lead.

Jackson Merk paced the winners with three hits, three runs and two RBIs. Jack Ivankovits also finished with three hits.

Lienhard had two singles, a double and a triple, and also scored three runs. Bongiorno added two RBIs to his hit total. The Monarchs also received a triple, two runs and two RBIs from Noah Snisky.

Nazareth-Birches

Nazareth’s Ben Pinel threw a three-hitter to lead his team to a 2-1 Northampton County Legion victory over the Birches.

Pinel gave up just one run and one walk while striking out 11. He also helped his own cause by delivering a double and an RBI.

Brandon Ratti reached base twice for the Birches, once with a triple and another time with a free pass. Ratti also scored his team’s only run.

Nate Mostosky pitched well in defeat, allowing just one run and two walks in six innings, while striking out three.

Ethan Horvath finished with two hits for Nazareth.
