Local Roundup: Results from June 16

Franklin Township doubled up Palmerton, while Jim Thorpe gained a walk-off win over Palmer Township in Lehigh Valley Connie Mack League action on Wednesday.

Franklin Twp.-Palmerton

Ian Rarick had a big day at the plate, and Franklin Township scored in each of the first six innings to earn a 10-5 Lehigh Valley Connie Mack league victory over Palmerton.

Rarick collected three hits, scored two runs and knocked in a pair to help Franklin improve to 7-3.

Talen Sensinger added a hit and two RBIs, while Aiden Rarick, Michael Yeakel and Noah Barndt all contributed a hit and a run. The winners also received a pair of runs from Brady O’Donnell.

Dawson Keiser earned the win in relief, tossing 3 2/3 innings. Kesier allowed just one run and struck out three.

Palmerton’s Daniel Lucykanish collected two hits, a run and an RBI. Kaleb Eitner also finished with two hits and scored a run. Nathan Steinmetz chipped in with a double and a run.

Chip Baldassano’s RBI-single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Jim Thorpe a 4-3 Lehigh Valley Connie Mack League walk-off win over Palmer Township.

Tied at 3-3, Owen Hubbard reached first on an error to lead off the home seventh. Two batters later, Baldassano delivered the game-winner on a 1-2 pitch.

Ian Henkels had three hits, scored a run and knocked in one for Thorpe (4-4). Jack Edwards added a pair of hits and a run.

Tanner Yurchak tossed four innings of relief, allowing four hits and an unearned run to gain the victory.

The winners also received a hit and an RBI from Evan Murphy, as well as a hit and a run from Connor Patton.

Becahi-Northern Valley

Becahi pushed across six runs in the sixth inning to pull away from Northern Valley for a 13-2 Lehigh Valley Connie Mack League victory.

Kaczor had three hits and scored three runs for the winners, who held a 4-1 advantage until putting the game out of reach in the sixth.

Wesley George had a hit and scored a run for the Chargers, who were held to just two hits. Andrew Diehl had the team’s other hit, while John Meltsch added a run scored.

The loss dropped Northern Valley to 4-2.

TEENER LEAGUE

Frackville-Valley Athletic

Frackville broke open a close game with a seven-run sixth inning and went on to post an 11-6 Schuylkill Teener League victory over Valley Athletic.

Joseph Cuthie had three hits and two runs for the winners, while Bradlee Smith and Jimmy Weikel also had three hits.

For Valley Athletic, Gianni Valentine had two hits - one a triple - and scored a run while Cian McLaughlin added a triple and two runs scored. Tim Fritzinger also reached base four times, all on walks.

Birches-Wanderers

The Wanderers scored two sixth-inning runs to break a tie and eventually gain a 9-8 Northampton County Legion victory over the Birches.

Brandon Holzinger had three hits for the winners, who outhit the Birches by a 13-4 margin.

Jack Smale had a double for the Birches, who received plenty of walks to keep the game close.
