Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:
• Hired Jared Green as a part-time police officer at a rate of $19 per hour.
• Ratified the suspension of employee No. 22 after the Loudermill Hearing that was held on June 3 - for two weeks without pay. Supervisors said the individual is a road crew employee. The employee returned to work June 14.
• Renewed a junkyard permit application for JME Land Co Inc. located at 431 State Road.
• Applied to the state Department of Economic and Community Development to receive funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, and opened a new PLGIT accounts to place the funds received from the ARPA.
• Announced that Jason Shellhammer will be collecting stormwater system information for the township that is needed for the MS4 permit, and that he will be looking at drains, outfalls, etc. during evening hours and on weekends as time and weather permits.
• Police officer Christopher Lekka to attend Field Sobriety School retroactive from May 24-26.
• Extend the Declaration of Disaster Emergency that ends on June 30 to Sept. 30.
• Franklin Township fire police will assist with traffic control at The Palmerton Car Show on Saturday.
• Announced there will be a change to the garbage collection for the Fourth of July holiday, as the July 5 garbage will be collected on July 6.
