Tamaqua woman faces charges after attacking partner with knife

Chantal Guerrero, 21, of Tamaqua, is facing two counts of simple assault and one count of harassment.

On June 7 at 9:04 p.m. Tamaqua police officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Orwigsburg Street, for a reported physical domestic with a knife. On scene officers met with a woman who said she was in an argument with her girlfriend, Guerrero, over bringing items into their residence. During the argument the woman said Guerrero picked up a knife but she was able to take it away from her.

The woman then took knives upstairs and Guerrero knocked the knives out of her hands and grabbed two knives. She was able to control Guerrero and took her to the ground and a struggled ensued. Guerrero cut the victim on her right arm, causing a 3-inch cut. The woman said she and Guerrero were in a romantic relationship.

Guerrero was arraigned on the charges and released on $25,000 unsecured bail. The victim was later released to family members from Hazleton.
