State police report on area crashes
State police report on the following crashes throughout the region:
• A Carbon County driver was involved in a one-vehicle crash in Luzerne County.
State police at Hazleton said a 17-year-old male from Weatherly was driving a 2010 Mitsubishi Galant northbound on Stockton Mountain Road in Hazle Township when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the road due to high speed. The vehicle skidded off the east side of the road, spun clockwise and struck a utility pole. The pole was sheared, troopers said.
The teen was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. He was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton Campus. The vehicle was towed.
He was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
• A Carbon County driver was involved in a one-vehicle crash along the northeast extension of the turnpike in Lehigh County.
State police at the Pocono barracks said Charles W. Nase, 24, of Summit Hill, was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima southbound in the left lane on June 4 at 1:30 p.m. in North Whitehall Township when his vehicle spun around and struck the right metal barrier with its rear bumper. The vehicle then spun and struck the passenger side front bumper and fender.
Nase was not injured. Troopers did not indicate if the vehicle had to be towed.
• State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating a three-vehicle crash at 11:58 a.m. at the intersection of Route 115 and Neola Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, on June 2.
Troopers said Evelyn A. Flores, 19, of Albrightsville, was southbound on Route 115 driving a 2020 Jeep Renegade when her vehicle struck a 2015 Chrysler 200 driven by Jeremiah I. Pedroza, 23, of Blakeslee, in the rear. Impact pushed the Chrysler into the rear of a 2002 Toyota Avalon driven by Ben N. Ondimu, 40, of Blakeslee.
No one was injured. The Jeep was towed.
Troopers cited Flores for following too closely.
• State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on a two-vehicle crash at 1:02 p.m. on June 8 at the intersection of Earl and East Main streets in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Shelby L. Bosack, 18, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2013 Audi Q5 eastbound while Tanya L. Shaud, 49, of Pottsville, driving a 2010 Ford Expedition, was stopped for a posted stop sign on East Street. Shaud attempted to cross East Main Street into a parking lot and pulled into Bosack’s path and a collision occurred.
No one was injured. Both vehicles were towed.
Shaud was cited for the crash.
• A crash was reported at 3:14 a.m. on June 6 along Route 895 in West Brunswick Township. State police at Schuylkill Haven said Kenneth A. Manuel, 28, of Allentown, was driving a 2010 Hyundai Sonata northbound and admitted falling asleep. He said when he awoke he saw a cement island in front of him and he quickly turned to the right, causing him to lose control of the Sonata. The vehicle struck the guide rail along the north side of the road.
Manuel was not injured. The vehicle had to be towed and he was cited for the crash.
