A Monroe County man is facing charges following a domestic incident in which he is accused of assaulting a woman.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said on June 10 at 9:45 a.m. they were dispatched for a welfare check in the 300 block of Elk Drive, Blakeslee, Tunkhannock Township, of a 32-year-old woman. Police said the woman had sent a text message to her sister saying she was in her home with Sean Moore, 38, of Blakeslee, and that he had hurt her and she needed help.
Officers made contact with Moore and the woman. As the woman approached the officers she began to cry and Moore ran back inside the home. The woman, after exiting the house, told officers Moore had assaulted her over several hours and that there were guns in the home. She also told officers that Moore said that “this would end bad and would not go back to jail.”
Police surrounded the home and after about 90 minutes Moore surrendered to police without incident.
He was taken into custody and charged with a felony 2 count of strangulation and misdemeanor counts of unlawful restraint, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, harassment, and two counts of simple assault.
He was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Snydersville in lieu of $50,000 straight cash bail.
