State police at Frackville - crashes

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.

• A crash was reported on June 8 at 9:42 a.m. along Tuscarora Mountain Drive in Ryan Township. Troopers said William Wagner, 46, of Barnesville, was driving a 2010 Ford Escape northbound and negotiating a left hand curve while Melissa A. Molyneux, 29, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek, southbound. Wagner’s vehicle left its lane of travel and crossed the double yellow line into the southbound lane with the front end of his Escape hitting the front of the Crosstrek.

Molyneux was injured and taken to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale. Wagner was not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed. Ryan Township Fire Company volunteers assisted at the scene.

Wagner was cited for the crash.

• A crash was reported at 11:17 a.m. on June 4 along Route 924 (Gold Star Highway), in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Daniel A. Cox, 38, of Shickshinny, Luzerne County, was driving a 2020 Ford F150 truck southbound in the right lane while Joseph M. Najda, 47, of Ringtown, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado truck southbound in the left lane. Troopers said Cox turned left into the path of Najda and a collision occurred.

Cox and Najda were injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East, Pottsville, by Shenandoah ambulance.

Cox was cited for the crash.

• Troopers investigated a crash along Interstate 81 in Delano Township at 3:20 p.m. on June 8. Troopers said Susan D. Montross, 71, of Tunkhannock, driving a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, and D. E. Knickerbocker, 82, of Indian Lakes Estates, Florida, driving a 2020 Dodge Ram truck, were both northbound in the left lane. Knickerbocker began to slow down due to a work zone ahead when his vehicle was struck in the rear by the Jeep. No injuries were reported. The Jeep had to be towed.

Troopers cited Montross for following too closely.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported on Interstate 80 in Ryan Township at 3:44 p.m. on June 7. Dimitrius R. Garretson, 44, of Scranton, was driving a 2013 Freightliner tractor/trailer northbound when an unknown erratic driver was making several lane changes and cut off Garretson. Garretson swerved his rig to avoid the erratic driver. His truck went off the road and hit several feet of guide rail, then traveled down an embankment about 20 feet, flipping onto its driver’s side.

Garretson suffered a minor injury and did not require immediate medical attention.
