Schuylkill sheriff candidate files suit against incumbent, others

Doug Litwhiler, a candidate for Schuylkill County Sheriff, has filed a lawsuit against Sheriff Joseph Groody and three others.

Litwhiler said he filed the paperwork 1:34 p.m. in the prothonotary’s office. He declined to comment, referring questions to his lawyer.

Groody, Anthony Kodack, Ranae Warcola and Kylee Petritsch are named as defendants. Kodack is the administrator of a Facebook page entitled “Schuylkill County Sheriff Candidate Doug Litwhiler likes young girls.” The other two defendants are also listed as administrators.

The page alleges Litwhiler made inappropriate remarks to young women. Litwhiler denies the accusations. He said previously he was withdrawing from the race because of the allegations an the impact on his family.

Thursday he said he had not made a decision yet.

“I have time to decide and I will decide when I feel that I should decide. I am not going to rush to any decision, “ he said.

Groody said he didn’t write the texts and that he will issue a news release with a statement later today. He was unaware the lawsuit was filed.
