Carbon restaurant cited for liquor violation

A Carbon County business has been cited by the state police liquor control board enforcement office, Wilkes-Barre, for a liquor code violation.

Tony Stella’s Encore, Jim Thorpe, was cited for selling alcoholic beverages during a time when their restaurant liquor license was being held in safekeeping by the liquor board in violation of state liquor code and control board regulations.

This charge will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation based on the severity of the charge brought.
