Bloomsburg man charged in Penn Forest burglary

A Columbia County man has been charged with burglary in Penn Forest Township.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Pennsylvania State Police, Fern Ridge barracks:

At 7:20 p.m. May 31, police were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Petrarch Trail, Penn Forest Township, for the report of a house check.

A utility trailer registered to Christopher Groner, 54, of Bloomsburg, was in the driveway.

Richards contacted the homeowner who said Groner had been evicted from the property and knows that he is not be on it.

The front door to the house was unlocked. Police noticed that someone had been inside the residence, but no one was there at that time. They locked the door.

On June 2, police returned to check the residence and Groner was located inside the residence.

Groner told police he was able to manipulate the lock on the front door.

Groner faces charges of burglary; criminal trespass, break into structure; criminal trespass, simple trespasser; and criminal mischief.

He is currently in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000, 10% monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.
