Carbon relaxes mask mandate

The Carbon County Board of Commissioners rescinded its requirement for fully vaccinated employees or visitors to wear a mask while in or on county property.

The change began today.

Any person not fully vaccinated is still required to wear a mask.

As of Monday, 59.4% of Pennsylvanians received their first does, with 55.7% of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older fully vaccinated.

Pennsylvania ranks ninth among 50 states for first dose vaccinations.

Statewide, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported Monday there were 297 additional positive cases of COVID-19, 321 new cases reported for Sunday, and 488 new cases reported for Saturday.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of May 28-June 3 stood at 2.9%.

Lehigh Valley Health Network has also relaxed its COVID-19 visitor policy.

Masks are still required in all health care settings, but beginning Wednesday, visiting hours will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and two visitors are permitted per patient.
