Pleasant Valley announces staff retirements, assignment changes

Several Pleasant Valley High School teachers and one intermediate school teacher have decided to retire as the school year comes to a close.

The teachers at the high school are Keith Haverstock, Philomena Reduzzi, Drew Dangler, Karl Rentzheimer, Alysia Sabatine-Phillips and James Percey. At the intermediate school, Nadine Snyder is retiring.

The school district is faced with furloughing up to 40 teachers and administration in order to reduce the district’s $8.1 million deficit.

In addition to retirements, there were some resignations in May: Nancy Ryan, a teacher at the elementary school; Marta Mendez, a substitute food service employee, and Jacquelyn Dumas, a custodian.

Also in May, several people were hired or had some change to their assignment, and the summer school staff were named. The most notable hiring was that of a new business manager Michael Simonetta at $145,000 per year. His most recent position was as chief financial officer for the Easton Area School District. He will be replacing Susan Famularo, and will begin in July for a term of three years ending on June 30, 2024.
