STATE POLICE AT FRACKVILLE

State police at Frackville announce the following incidents:

• A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges following a crash that occurred at 4:51 a.m. on May 29 along Coal Street in Middleport borough.

State police at Frackville said Jason M. Nemeth, 34, of New Philadelphia, was driving a 2021 Chrysler Town & Country minivan southbound when his vehicle struck a legally parked 2006 Ford F-150 XLT truck. Troopers said Nemeth was going too fast for wet road conditions.

After hitting the Ford truck, Nemeth exited his vehicle, looked at the damage, got back in his vehicle and fled the scene. The impact pushed the truck into a utility pole causing damages to the rear bumper.

Nemeth was later located and charged with immediate notice of accident to police and other violations. No injuries were reported.

• Troopers also reported investigating a one-vehicle crash along Interstate 81 in Foster Township at 7:56 a.m. on May 29. Troopers said James J. Elias, 55, of Wilkes-Barre, was driving a 2017 Honda Pilot southbound when he lost control. The Honda traveled across the median where the driver’s side rear wheel impacted with a cement drainage pipe. The impact caused the Honda to roll over several times before coming to rest on its driver’s side.

Elias sustained a suspected minor injury and did not require immediate medical attention.
