Hugh “Wink” Gallagher is probably the most popular schoolboy coach in the Anthracite Region - 250 fans and graduates of Marian Catholic High School proved that Saturday night during a gala testimonial dinner-dance in his honor held at the school in Hometown.

The salute to the veteran athletic director was filled with historical facts on the school’s first football coach, who resigned that position at the close of the ’64 campaign.

“Wink,” who once drove the team bus and marked off the field at Panther Valley High School, proved many years ago he ranks with the most dedicated, untiring workers on the area athletic scene.
