Two injured in Carbon crash

Two people were injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at noon Saturday along Quakake Road in Packer Township, Carbon County.

State police at Hazleton said Tea M. Heister, 24, of Weatherly, was driving a 2008 Buick Lacrosse eastbound when she attempted to remove a spider from the window and began to lose control of the car. The car then rotated clockwise and traveled off the right side of the road striking a tree. After impact with the tree the car rotated counter-clockwise and came to rest.

Heister and her passenger, Alyssa L. Heister, 18, also of Weatherly, were both taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton Campus. She was cited for the crash.

Troopers also reported investigating a crash at 10:05 p.m. on Saturday along at the intersection of Route 93 and Laurel Mall Drive, in Hazle Township, Luzerne County, involving a Schuylkill County driver who was cited.

Troopers said Cameron J. Cress, 18, of Delano, was driving a 2019 Jeep Cherokee westbound and failed to stop for a steady red light at the intersection with Laurel Mall Drive. His vehicle struck a 2021 Toyota Rav4 driven by a 17-year-old female from Sugarloaf, Luzerne County. No one was injured. Both vehicles had to be towed.

Cress was cited for a traffic light violation.
