Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins 9:30 a.m. The bread wafer and communion container are presealed as a safe way to celebrate the sacrament. Included during this time is recognition of 2021 graduates. Reservations are not required. A face mask covering the nose and mouth must be worn throughout the entirety of the worship service. Singing of a hymn returns each week. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. A special meeting of the congregation regarding the status of the steeple immediately follows.

The Trinity Thrift Store will be open for business without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drop-offs will once again be accepted during store hours, but are limiting donations to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The NEPA Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America meets online for in assembly Friday afternoon and evening, and Saturday morning, June 4-5. Visitors are invited to tune into plenary sessions via YouTube. The installation of Bishop Christopher deForest, which was delayed due to the pandemic, will be livestreamed June 5 at 3 p.m. on the synod’s website, nepasynod.org, or the direct link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoI8iouKYZ8. His six-year term began January 2021.
