Police said a woman in a Ford Focus was driving south on Route 209 Sunday when she failed to negotiate the turn at the three-point intersection with Route 54.

She hit the curb, rolled and took out the flagpole. She was entrapped and had to be cut out by fire departments.

The crash happened at 1:23 p.m.

The driver was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a nearby trauma center. Nesquehoning police are investigating the incident.
