May 28, 2011 - Tamaqua’s Christine Streisel earns a gold medal during the second day of the PIAA State Track and Field Championships. Streisel, a sophomore, captures the Class 2A javelin with a throw of 143-11. Palmerton’s Kelsey Hay also earns a medal in the same event, placing fifth with a distance of 129-10. Hay adds a 10th-place finish in the shot put. Lehighton’s Jon Strauss gives the Times News area a third medal, also in the javelin event. Strauss earns a fifth with a throw of 186-1.
