Police: Bodies found in Carbon believed to be of Asian descent

The victims whose bodies were found Saturday night in a wooded area off Eckley Road in Carbon County are believed to be of Asian descent and middle-aged, according to autopsy results.

The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop N Hazleton barracks announced Wednesday they are actively investigating the deaths of an unidentified man and woman discovered just after 7 p.m. Saturday in a wooded area off Eckley Road, near North Buck Mountain Road, Lausanne Township in Carbon County.

The man is about 5-foot-3 inches tall, and was wearing a “Di Fan Lu” style thermal undershirt, along with a size small Hugo Boss button down dress shirt, black Johnston and Murphy, size 8, ankle height dress boot, Calvin Klein socks, and a brown Boconi leather belt with what appears to be a metal key clip on the belt.

He was also wearing medium, SAXX brand underwear, and unbranded tailored pants. He had a lower molar surgically removed, and still had his wisdom teeth.

Police said the woman is about 5-foot-5 inches tall, and was dressed in a dark colored camisole, and an unbranded, dark in colored long-sleeved sweater with a sewn in 3D floral pattern on the sleeves. She had black, size 6, “Medicine Book” branded shoes on. Her pants were dark colored valor style sweatpants. The victim was found with a tan pearl earring in her right ear.

The victims were both wearing surgical style masks, commonly used during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Police said the items used to conceal the bodies appear to be consistent with the items commonly found in a commercial business style setting.

State police said the location in which the bodies were discovered is not the location in which the victims died. It appears that this location served as a dumping area for the bodies, state police said.

State police said a specific manner and cause of death has not been determined.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop N - Hazleton, at 570-459-3890.

Request to speak with Trooper John P. Lutchko or a member of the Criminal Investigation Unit.
